Des Königs neue Kleider

Third Eye Factory’s interactive installation “Des Königs neue Kleider * The King’s New Clothes” from November 11 to December 9, 2016, in Group Global 3000, Berlin, as part of the group exhibition “Der Einzelhandel ist mit dem Weihnachtsgeschäft zufrieden”.
Website Group Global 3000:

An interactive advent calendar. People can click on the numbers from 1 to 24 to open the small doors. With each click, when the advent calendar door opens, you can hear a female or male voice advertising for gorgeous clothes you should wear for Christmas. Behind the doors a green background becomes gradually visible, at the beginning showing a blurred and unrecognizable image, but slowly becoming more sharply and at the end it is revealed.

A video by Third Eye Factory

In an old cemetery, the graves become one with nature. Tombstones are covered by vegetation, names are hidden and become memories that only earth can read.
In the video a tombstone is freed from the leaves and reveals the inscription “Unsere Lieselotte” – our Lieselotte. A memory comes to light, the warmth of affection, the cry for a loss. Leaves grow and cover again, memories are buried but life goes on forever.

Free the Fishes!

“Free the Fishes!”
Film of an art-action performed by the Third Eye Factory
First screening 27.05 – 01.07.2016, Group Global 3000, Berlin
as part of the exhibition “Fische, kulinarisch überfischt / Fish, culinary overfished”
> see website

Third Eye Factory was very shocked to discover that nowadays you can buy fishes in on-line stores! Whether the people use them to eat, or as ornamental fish in garden ponds: we think it is a great injustice and want the animals rather be swimming in the open water. That’s why we bought two nice carp fishes online, and freed them into the river in front of our home. We recorded this whole action on video.

The Logic of Logistics in the Ant’s World

“The Logic of Logistics in the Ant’s World”/”Die Logik der Logistik in der Ameisen-Welt”, a video-photo-installation by the Third Eye Factory
06.11 – 18.12.2015, Group Global 3000, Berlin
as part of the exhibition “CARGO – Alles immer überall / Everything always everywhere”
> see website

Ants are great transport artists. They often carry objects that are many times larger and heavier than themselves. Food pieces are often carried by several ants together. “The Logic of Logistics in the Ant’s World” presents a look at this rational transportation system, and confronts it with the transport in the human world. The road signs are then absurd, and the supply of things that you do not need seems ridiculous: the ants are always purposeful and organized, and can not be seduced by useless brightly colored objects, which they put quickly and efficiently aside to clear the way to keep on the precious crumbs.

Wer hat Angst vor’m Hermannplatz?

Wer hat Angst vor’m Hermannplatz?”
a video-photo-installation by the Third Eye Factory, has been exposed from 11.09 – 30.10.2015, Group Global 3000, Berlin, as part of the exhibition “Verkehr für Menschen” / “Traffic for Humans”
> see website

“You’re afraid of Hermannplatz” has become famous as a slogan on a t-shirt of the fashion label “Muschi Kreuzberg”. Since then, the slogan is used several times.
Who’s afraid of Hermannplatz? Viewed objectively, it is just an ugly, loud square in the north of Berlin Neukölln, Kreuzberg and junction for all kinds of roads.
Generally the place is known as a meeting point for unemployed and migrant workers, drug sellers and graffiti sprayers, who create a so-called “dangerous” environment. Therefore, one has to be afraid.
But we think the real danger of the Hermann Square is the roaring traffic that rushes by on all sides of the square. The traffic junctions on both ends of the square are the black spots in the district of Neukölln. The air that you breathe is permeated everywhere by exhaust gases. That is the reason why you have to really be afraid!
The installation of the artistic duo “Third Eye Factory” consists of a video in loop and a photo in which the Hermannplatz is shown from the perspective of a cyclist and that of a pedestrian. The mirror effect reinforces the idea that one is trapped – which direction you go, you will always meet up again with the ubiquitous traffic. The only way out seems to be the monument in the center of the square, recorded in the photo.

In the Beginning was the Word …

The first video in the project Korporal Labyrinth.
Starring: Astrid Astra Esther Indricane and Maria (Felix) Korporal.
Video and all artwork by Maria (Felix) Korporal.

Korporal Labyrinth is a work in progress, an account of a visceral journey in different stadia, expressed in a series of short videos. The artist’s drawing of the labyrinth was the starting point for the project, together with a bunch of footage taken mainly from July to October 2013. This is a very important period in the artist’s life, in which two women play the lead role: her mother Ariena and her new lover Astrid – a life which has come to an end, and a life which has taken a new start.
In her Korporal Labyrinth, the artist explores several ways of walking through the labyrinth – there is no absolute truth, every possibility is worth trying and leads to new experiences and points of view.
