BOLOGNA IN LETTERE – MULTIDISCIPLINAIR FESTIVAL VOOR HEDENDAAGSE LITERATUUR
Ontstaan in 2013, na de eerdere ervaring van Letteratura necessaria, op initiatief van Enzo Campi en een groep dichters en niet-dichters van verschillende leeftijden en nog meer verschillende dichtstijlen. Het is een festival dat in het leven is geroepen met de bedoeling een gemeenschappelijke ruimte voor dialoog te creëren “waarin classicisme en experiment kunnen samenvloeien door het gebruik van multidisciplinaire talen”.

BOLOGNA IN LETTERE – EEN FESTIVAL DAT EEN JAAR DUURT
Dit is de slogan die Bologna in Lettere kenmerkt, want de evenementen bestrijken de tijdspanne van een jaar en culmineren in zes dagen in mei waarin poëzie, schrijven, videokunst, fotografie, theater en performance hun krachten bundelen voor een gemeenschappelijk doel: de verspreiding van het woord.

BOLOGNA IN LETTERE 10th – BĂBÉL STATI DI ALTERAZIONE
Juni 2021 – Oktober 2022:
We vieren de tiende verjaardag van het festival met een speciale editie die zal lopen van juni 2021 tot oktober 2022.

Maria Korporal is curator van het onderdeel videokunst van het festival, ARTE-FATTI CONTEMPORANEI, en heeft een ruime selectie video(-poëtische) werken gepresenteerd van kunstenaars uit de hele wereld. Voor de eindfase van het festival in mei 2022 nodigde art director Enzo Campi haar uit om een eigen video in te dienen. De kunstenares koos voor het videogedicht (amarizza), in 2011 gemaakt in samenwerking met de dichteres Daìta Martinez uit Palermo. Het is een bijzonder project omdat Maria Korporal naast de Italiaanse versie (amarezza), een tweede video heeft gemaakt waarin zij de Palermitaanse versie van het gedicht heeft opgenomen: (amarizza). Het is deze versie die op het festival zal worden voorgesteld, ter ere van het thema “Băbél – toestanden van verandering”.
De video zal van 11 tot 28 mei 2022 online te zien zijn op het YouTube-Kanaal van het festival.

Bologna in Lettere 2020 will be a special edition because, for the ongoing health emergency, it will only take place online.
It will be organized as if it were a real festival with a daily program:
from 7 to 25 May, following a pre-established schedule and presented on the web page Bologna in Lettere 2020, on simultaneous video premieres on the channel YouTube, on the social networks Instagram, Facebook.

Maria Korporal participates with a special edition of her video Breaking Borders. The premiere will take place on 11 May at 22:00 and the video will remain visible also afterwards.

A crucial scene in the video is a pelican biting itself in the chest to save his children with his own blood. It is an image of great allegorical significance in antiquity and in Christianity, usually representing the paternal or maternal love, the act of sacrifice oneself to save one’s own children. In alchemical iconography the image of the pelican is a metaphor for the unselfish aspiration to the ascent towards purification, for the absolute generosity.
The title “The pelican of the wilderness” refers to a quote from the Bible: “I am like a pelican of the wilderness …” (Psalm 101.7). The quote is also present in the book “Annelies Marie Frank,” from which was taken the poem “Nocturnal skeletons” by Mario Maroccolo, father of the author Nina Maroccolo, who reads the text in the final scene of the video.
The video has been presented at the festival “Bologna in lettere“, May 16, 2015, in an extended form with a performance by Nina Maroccolo and Maria Korporal.
